Jewelry Appraisals

All jewelry appraisals are done in house by our Graduate Gemologist using all of the latest GIA equipment.  Most appraisals take a few days but with an appointment can be done in the same day.  We have done many appraisals on diamonds and gemstones for many functions including insurance replacement and estates.

Some common questions...

1. How are appraisals done?

Each item brought into our store for appraising will be handle with great care and consideration, throughly inspected with you, our customer before being left.  All items will be professionally cleaned and inspected by our Goldsmith prior to being appraised, noting any need for repairs.  Our Graduate Gemologist will then test and grade each individual gemstone or diamond, measure the gems, research the item for current market value, and submit a picture along with the complete description.

2.Why do I have to update my appraisals?

Insurance companies request their clients to have their personal property values update every 2-3 years.  This is due to the constant change and fluctuation in gold and diamond markets.  Items purchase in the 1990's cannot be replaced for what they were purchased for now with the increase in the price of gold.

3. What types of appraisals are available?

*Insurance replacement appraisals are done to cover the personal property of the client against theft or loss.

*Estate appraisals are done for either tax purposes to assess the liability for executors and administrators or for equitable distribution among heirs.

*Fair market value is an appraisal done for items you would want to resale.  In order to sell an item to another individual often times they will request an appraisal, hence a fair market appraisal is done.
